my twenty penneth

where do i start.. Manchester City played Arsenal last night (January 5Th 2011) at the Emirates.. or the Highbury Library..

Anyhow.. 94 minutes later and two sendings off, one right and one wrong, the game ended in a 0-0 draw, which was bad news for the home side Arsenal, and good news for my team Manchester City.

Afterwards the very bitter Arsene Wenger and his band of moaning footballers led by the imaginary yellow card waver Cesc Fabregas led the onslaught into City's tactics or lack of them in holding out for an away point.

I didn't see anyone condemning Manchester United or Chelsea for doing exactly the same over the years?

City had a game plan, and were missing two influential players in play maker David Silva and striker Mario Balotelli so to go toe to toe with one of your rivals on their home patch would have been seriously misguided and footballing suicide.

As it happened Arsenal hit the post a few times, they did their usual of trying to walk the ball in the net, it didn't work, because we have the best defence in the league, and even though we didn't hurt them as much as even the most dyed in the wool city fan would have liked, it was a useful away point.

Come the end of the season.. points win prizes... as do clean sheets.

The attack of the media led by sky and countless others is laughable.

Roberto Mancini does not pick his team to play football for Sky, nor does he pick his team to play into Arsenals hands.

He picks his teams to either win the game, or if you cant win, make sure you don't lose.

where is the problem?

4 games in 6 days, 10 points won out of a possible 12.. 9 goals scored, and only 1 conceded, one defeat in 13 games, 2ND in the table.

boring, boring city.. oh well..at least you know who we are NOW

A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE REQUIRED

Today has seen another story breaking again at my football club of wanton greed with premiership footballers and their agents.

Carlos Tevez, the captain of Manchester City, leading goalscorer, player of the season, and all round action hero, demands a transfer request on the day we go joint top of the league.

What more do these people want??

Tevez is already on £268,000 a week - TAX FREE

Would an extra £32,000 a week make that much of a difference to hit the £300k mark.. or £1.2 million a month

Or is he that homesick that he wants to go back to Argentina to see his kids and his estranged wife.

Its way more than this.. this is about one thing.. MONEY

Agents are at work here and one in particular.. Kiavash "Kia" Joorabchian

I hope City remain firm, and their press release this morning suggest that they are intending to back Mancini and Cook on sticking to its guns, that contracts will never be renegotiated mid season.

As is right.. you look at contracts at the end of the season, when we have trophies in the bank, and or objectives have been reached. You dont be held to ransom by agents in the middle of a season, and for the most part, these are people who dont actually care about their clients.

Carlos Tevez should do himself and his family a massive favour and learn to speak English, instead of letting his agents do what they want, when they want too.

Flip the coin over to Pablo Zabaleta, our other Argentinian player, totally different, a model professional, no airs or graces, a team player, doesnt complain when he is not in the team, always plays with a smile on his face, and looks settled in Manchester.

Our manager Roberto Mancini jets back to Italy every weekend to visit his very ill father.

A little perspective from El Apache wouldnt go amiss along with his crony IKEA.

Back to basics

And so MCFC have lost two games on the spin.. cue season over hysterics.
As I'm away from base I have not had the chance to catch up on all things CITY, but i can read the headlines and see reactions from fans and pundits around the sphere.

Mancini has lost the dressing room, blah de blah de blah. Why?

Players have to take full responsibility for their performances on the pitch.. when they cross the line.. they have to do the jobs they are handsomely paid to do, the manager can change tactics and personnel in his 90 minutes plus, but he cant change egos and players minds.

Its high time the clubs stuck their necks out for themselves and their management team instead of the players. players are commodities, they can be bought and sold willy nilly.. the club shall remain.. and the fans are the lifeblood of any club, without fans you have no club..

I still believe in Roberto Mancini, but I'm wavering in my support of some players. Take Emmanuel Adebayor.. on his day.. he's virtually unplayable.. only we aint seen many of his unplayable days in a blue shirt, we have seen the sulky one, the lazy one, the i cant really be arsed one.

Adam Johnson.. a fine young talent.. again on his day..unstoppable.. I have seen a marked change in him since he was brought into the EGOland team. He doesnt seem to believe he has to work hard now he has a few caps for his country.

Gareth Barry.. James Milner..Shaun Wright Phillips when are they going to show the form for their club sides that makes them semi-automatic choices for their national teams.

The buck stops with the players.Changing the manager doesnt do the club nor the fans any favours. I trust in Mancini to see this and to ship out the players that do not want to put the extra 50% in that we all need to do no matter how talented you think you are.

The season is only 10 weeks old.. so hang in there people..

And remember.. better dead than red

back...

Well lords ladies and err..lads..I'm back after a summer hiatus of juice, vegetables, water and travel.

The football season has started.. and my team MCFC are mid table with a win and a loss ( yes we lost) away at Soonderland.

All in all its looking quite rosy in the garden of Eastlands.

Will we win the league.. probably not

Will we finish in the top 4..most probably

Will we win a trophy of some sort.. we have too really.

More as we go...

The run in.

At last my team Manchester City make a few teams pay in the goals department.. Last week Burnley got walloped 1-6, today we smashed Birmingham 5-1,and next up is the old adversaries Manchester United, which if we win, we will cost them the title.. which is nice, but actually it doesnt make a blind bit of difference to me.

MCFC is the only team that I concentrate on.

All season i have heard from rival fans, who never used to be our rivals cos frankly we were crap, that money cant buy you anything, all yer players are mercanaries they hiss, and the arabs will leave you high and dry, when they don't win anything.

Our new rivals.. Liverpool, Everton, Spurs, Aston Villa, Arsenal....then we have the usual bitterness from United fans and the cockiness of Chelsea fans who fail to realise that back in 2003, they were 10 mins from Administration.

You'll buy the league next season.. BOYS, please.. I have never seen the LEAGUE for sale anywhere, point me to the advertisement that states.. FA PREMIERSHIP for SALE..

Now i understand Liverpools fans frustration. Their American owners promised them a nice new stadium and an unlimited budget for Rafa to waste on players you've never heard of and pick reserves ahead of the old stalwarts Gerrard and Torres.

What can i say.. you followed United's mantra.. who themselves GLOATED when they were WINNING..now when the boot is firmly on the other foot, THEY ARE ALL PROTESTING and waving silly scarves to force their owners to QUIT.. as IF.

KIDS.. if you still think its yer club, you are even more deluded than at first thought. Yes you are the fans, but do you buy the players.. NO, do you pay all their wages.. errr.. NO.. Soooooo.. whats yer beef?

Is it the simple reason that you have both been so used to SUCCESS over the past 40yrs, you can see the OLD GUARD changing..

BOYS.. you don't own football.. tho you think you do.

LIverpool fans now be honest here.. who had ever heard of Liverpool before the Beatles and the 60s?

And United.. you were the same as us for years..tho to be fair you did win the European Cup in 68.

Even so..

Yer whining is laughable.

Back to money,money, money.

So what if MCFC have spent nearly £300m in 5yrs..Chelsea have spent EVEN more, even Spurs who don't get as much stick as us have spent over £260m since 2005, Liverpool have done £200m, United £195m, and well, we all know Arsenal spend 10p a season.

Whatever happens in the run in.. I can honestly say.. i have never had a better season.. Semi Finals of League Cup, Quarter Finals of the FA Cup, and currently 4points ahead of Spurs in the chase for the final Champions League spot.

We have a great squad. Even tho we do have 11 players injured and 9 out on loan ( as nobody wants to give us money for players, tho they love to RAMP it up when we come sniffing)

BRING ON UNITED.. and let JUSTICE prevail

THE BATTLE FOR 4TH

Its that time again when the Top 3 teams in the Premiership are seemingly nailed on certs to finish where they now sit.. and the battle for 4th spot and the final lucrative champions league spot is up for grabs.

The runners and riders for the aforementioned spot are :

Manchester City
Liverpool
Tottenham
Aston Villa
Everton

Now we all know that five into one just wont go.

My beloved and very infuriating club Manchester City are the current favourites as we are 1pt clear in 4th spot with a game in hand over all our rivals

But all this can change very quickly.

For the record.. and this is my opinion. We should actually be sitting pretty in 2nd place.

The reason why we are not, is due to an up and down season at COM's.

I mean.. which other football club or business for that matter in the world would let our £32m record signing, sign off for 6 months to have a jolly in his native Brazil - you guessed it.. MCFC

We have had the farce of the African Nations to contend with when we lost our captain and at the time our inform striker, tho both are now are back in the fold one is carrying the scars of a near death experience.

Then their was the removal of Mark Hughes just before Christmas 2009, and the appointment of Roberto Mancini

Coupled with more injuries than would be the norm, we have been very hit and miss.. and lately.. MISS.

We have lost games we should have won, drawn games we should have won, and basically we should be tucked in nicely behind Chelsea as Man Yoo are no big shakes this season..

Which brings me nicely to our opponents today LIVERPOOL.

LIVERPOOL FC, the famous team of the 70s and 80s are having a mare of a time in 2010.. Mind you they have been having a mare of a time for the past 20yrs. No titles since the late 80s, the odd champions league win has kept them afloat and the odd cup win also.

Tho i would like to see the look on their scouse faces when they open todays papers.. when MCFC are linked with a big money swoop for their best two players Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres this summer. Coupled with the problems they have with their own owners..I would like to see them all UPSET come Monday morning also.

Stick that in your HISTORY pipes LIVERPOOL.

TOTTENHAM on the other hand are a team and a club i have a severe disliking for. Harry Redknapp the current manager reminds me of a one night stand that you just cant shake off.

He is linked with every rivals player, i will admit it he just gets my goat up.

Spurs have spent over £150m on players in the past 3 yrs.. and nothing is said in the media.. why.. I dunno..someone tell me.
I hope they fail.. and end up 10th!

Plus the fact that they robbed us in the 81 cup final.. G-r-r-r-r-r-r

ASTON VILLA

Villa are a nice and tidy side run by one of Britain's best managers and former City midfielder Martin O'Neill. I loved him at Celtic, he is a no nonsense educated football manager. He gets results wherever he goes. He doesnt spend great deals of cash and he always seems to get a decent run of results, tho i can see them falling away this season after they play United in the CC final.

EVERTON

Everton are playing decent stuff at the moment , they put us away a few weeks back, which was made easier by the fact that we were dire, and today they rumbled United 3-1. They dont have a massive squad, and are getting players back just in time for the run in, with the likes of Arteta and Cahill looking strong.

I can see Everton nicking past the likes of SPURS and ASTON VILLA in the final reckoning if they can keep the injuries down.

So

Where are my team MCFC going to finish.. well this depends if Roberto Mancini can quell an apparent players revolt behind the scenes.

Also if he can get most of the squad fit and available for selection

And he can also get a winning system and team.

Because from where i see things. He has no idea what his best system is, or his best team.

Most teams in England play 4-4-2

Mancini has been playing 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-2-1.. In fact I'm sure he still thinks he's in ITALY.

We like to be entertained in this league.Sitting back for 70 minutes isnt gonna win you many friends Roberto and starting off like slugs on a day out isnt neither.

We like to see wingers.. so why dont you play SWP who frightens defenders with his pace and Adam Johnson our latest £7m signing from Middlesboring hey

We've been having problems in our creative midfield, its obvious he doesnt fancy our current player of the year Stephen Ireland for reasons unknown and he sticks with the experience, ageing and not very creative Patrick Viera.

Its not working Roberto

Hopefully this afternoon..he wil do a very un italian thing..

And attack Liverpool from the first whistle.

Come on.. you know you wanna?
